pros·sate spe·ci·fic an·ti·gen The prostate is a gland within the male reproductive system located just below the bladder. Chestnut shaped, the prostate surrounds the beginning of the urethra, the canal that empties the bladder.
Prostate-specific antigen, or PSA, is a protein produced by cells of the prostate gland. The PSA test measures the level of PSA in a man's blood. For this test, a blood sample is sent to a laboratory for analysis. The results are usually reported as nanograms of PSA per milliliter (ng/mL) of blood.
Your blood spot samples will test: Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) levels.
You may want to consider this test if you experience:
- A weak or slow urinary stream
- A feeling of incomplete bladder emptying
- Difficulty starting urination
- Frequent urination
- Urgency to urinate
- Getting up frequently at night to urinate
- A urinary stream that starts and stops
- FStraining to urinate
- Continued dribbling of urine
- Returning to urinate again minutes after finishing
- You have a family history of prostate conditions

Your test results will be returned to us within 5 to 7 business days from the date the lab receives your sample. Once we know that your results are available, we will send you an email so that you can login and review them.
NOTE: Per state laws, if you live in California, you will need to email us a prescription from a medical practitioner (could be a physician, physician's assistant, naturopath etc.) in order for us to process your order and send you your test. New York residents may not receive tests per state laws. Having your tests shipped to you outside of California or New York may be the best way to go. (The Air Quality tests and Pet tests do NOT need a prescription and can be sent anywhere needed.)
Because the test kits include postage-paid return shipping, there is an extra shipping charge of $10.00 that will be added to your test order.
The Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test is a common screening for prostate cancer. This test measures a protein that is produced by the prostate gland. Elevated PSA levels may indicate a higher likelihood of having prostate cancer. The PSA test is also used to monitor a person's response to cancer treatment.
It is important to note that not all cases of prostate cancer will show elevated total PSA levels and there are other conditions which may cause higher PSA levels besides cancer.
The PSA test is often recommended as a yearly screening for men over the age of 50. Those with a family history of prostate cancer may wish to begin screening earlier.
Please note that because return postage is included with this test kit, there is an extra shipping charge of $10 for kits shipped in the USA. The extra shipping charges for kits shipped outside the USA will vary according to cost/location. (This extra charge is NOT added to the Canine Health Check Test Kit or Any of the Air Quality Test Kits.
